Book of the Ages Slot Game Review

Time travellers prepare for launch for this historical horror-themed game from German developers Gamomat. The Dracula/vampire theme isn’t obvious from the title, but as soon as that eastern European accent kicks in on load up you’ll be sure that this game is taking you to the bloodthirsty realms of Transylvania’s most famous resident.

Gamomat might be a new name to you, but this is a partnership with Bally Wulff, and the company has worked in partnership with some of the biggest names in the online video slot business already.

This version of the undead comes with some fairly standard stats. It’s a 5-reel machine. The minimum stake is a cheap skate-friendly 0.01 coins (per pay line, so in effect 5p), and the top bet is 100 coins (10 x £10) – keeping everything fairly budget-friendly. The maximum win is 12,000 coins – which is very nice. There are only 10 pay-lines – a pretty low number these days (betting is per-line) – which can be reduced to five with a click.

Book of the Ages slot is an OK looking game, with super-sized reels and not much in the way of a backdrop. All the information you need is in fairly straight-forward info panels at the bottom of the screen.

The designers of Book of the Ages slot machine kept things simple, the reels take up most of the space on the reels. Above them you will see the slot title, there are a couple of buttons placed in the top left corner, and the main control panel is just below the reels. One little gripe is that the pay-table/information button is immediately obvious.

Once you do find it you’ll find the breakdown of all those symbols. Above the standard jack, queen, king, ace are themed, high-paying symbols: a glass of wine (maybe blood?), a candelabra, a clock at 5 past midnight, a bat, and a vampire-looking kind of guy. He’s the highest paying of the standard symbols, shelling out 50-times stake for a full house.

The book of the title does duty as both the wild and the scatter symbol. One or two of these are worth nothing in terms of pay-out or trigger. It’s not even the most generous payer, with five just paying out 20 times your stake. Three, four, or five of the books do though trigger the bonus round.

This is a free spins round. It throws in a randomly selected symbol as an alternative bonus, which should increase your chances of big wins. However many Scatters you get you’ll only get 10 free spins, but it can be retriggered with three more books during the feature.

The other bonus feature is a gamble on wins during the base game. It’s a double-or-quits wager on a card turn.

Book of the Ages slot machine is a good entry-level slot that feels quite basic at times. The machinery works well – the Autoplay is very good – and the graphics style is great on small screens (this game works across platforms). However, it’s a bit light on features, so if you prefer your games simple and straightforward to flashier slots then this is one you might want to add to your playing schedule next time you log into your favourite casino site.
