Who would have a Diamond Empire? If Trump ever gets around to declaring himself a supreme leader, you can imagine him going for a title like Diamond Emperor slot, but we don’t want to put ideas in his head, so we’ll return to this new game, a collaboration between Microgaming and Triple Edge Studios.

The theme then is historical. And the gameplay is very nostalgic too. It’s a very straightforward classic slot that you might even have seen in a real-life machine a few years back. The set-up is 3 by 3. There are 15 pay lines. The stakes go from 0.15 to 15 coins, with the relatively low top stake perhaps put in place with the massive 10,000x stake possible top win.

The symbols on the reels also reach back to the day, with bars, cherries, and sevens spinning before your eyes. The highest paying – as you’d expect – are the sevens with 5 33x stake for a full-house.

Diamonds are everyone’s best friend

Those are the standard symbols, but the diamonds of the title also pop up on the reels playing the part of both win multiplier and a wild, standing in for everything but the scatter.

The diamond multiplies wins it appears in by 2 when it appears as a single wild, and by 4 when there are two of them. A full line of them means a massive payout, and it’s via diamonds – a full screen – that you could win 10,000x stake.

The scatter is a simple “bonus” symbol and three of them trigger a bonus game. It’s equally simple, with a bonus wheel offering multipliers on your win of up to 888x.

Does the Empire strike back?

In truth, there’s not a lot to say about the Diamond Empire slot. It’s a very, very simple game the main appeal of which – in these gizmo-obsessed times – is probably just that: simplicity and nostalgia. The big 200 carats shiny stone in the machine though is the massive win potential – that you pay for with high volatility, that means fewer smaller wins.
